Struggling with planning your West Virginia Missions Trip? Not sure what to do on your off day(s)? Plan to take a day or two for your Missions Team to unwind and take in all West Virginia has to offer. Here are our top eight ideas for what to do while you are in Grandview West Virginia.
Visit Grandview National Park
Grandview National Park is only minutes down the road from First Southern Baptist Church of Grandview. There are plenty of trails to hike, both for the experienced and inexperienced, as well as places to have a picnic or to let the kids play. Grandview has some of the most gorgeous views of the Gorge. Theatre at Cliffside Amphitheatre
The Theatre at Cliffside Amphitheatre is an outdoor performance theatre at Grandview National Park. The theatre is open seasonally and puts on a few different performances. Our all time favorites are “Honey in the Rock” and “The Hatfields and The McCoy’s.” Click here for to view show times for the Cliffside Amphitheater.
Little Beaver State Park
Little Beaver State Park boasts 562 acres featuring multiple outdoor recreational activities. At the center of Little Beaver is an 18-acre lake that is open for fishing year-round. It is stocked with bass, crappie, channel cat, bluegill, and trout. Paddle boats and row boats, canoes, and kayak rentals are available seasonally. There are five picnic shelters that can be reserved ahead of time in addition to playgrounds, geocaching, and the activities building. There are plenty of trails that are open for hiking and biking. Go Four-Wheeling
There are two great options for the avid Four-Wheeler here in Southern West Virginia. Burning Rock is only a half hour drive from First Southern Baptist Church of Grandview. Burning Rock offers more than just ATV riding. You can also do motorcross and take guided tours of the trails. In addition to this, you can also zipline! The second option for Four-Wheeling in Southern West Virginia is the Hatfield and McCoy Trails in Bramwell, West Virginia. The Hatfield and McCoy Trails have 600+ acres on seven systems throughout Southern West Virginia. You can ride your ATV, UTV, dirt bike, or ORV on the trails. The town even has parking so that you can go directly from trail to dinner. Our favorite restaurant in Bramwell is The Corner Shop. It is a foodie’s heaven! If you have members of your group who are not interested in riding, you can tour the historic town of Bramwell or visit the local museum and take in the history! White Water Rafting
White Water Rafting is a popular, exciting option for your Mission Team’s Day off. There are several options to choose from when it comes to selecting a company to take your team white water rafting. One of our favorites is Alpine Ministries. Alpine Ministries is only a thirty minute drive from First Southern Baptist Church of Grandview. In addition to rafting, your team can partake in Caving, Repelling, Paintball, the High Ropes Course, Hiking, or simply relaxing by the lake. Mountain Climbing
Mountain Climbing is a fantastic option for your Mission Team’s Off Day here in Southern West Virginia. One of the closest locations for Mountain Climbing is right here in Grandview at the National Park. Click here for more information on this option. Another great options is just fifteen minutes down the road from First Southern Baptist Church of Grandview at Glade Springs. The Glade Springs Adventures offers multiple options for your Missions Team including: Airplane Rides, Archery, ATV, Biking, Boating, Bowling, Bridge Walk Tours, Equestrian Center, Geocaching, Hiking, Jet Boats, Laser Tag, Paint Ball, Golf, Pool, or you can relax at their Spa (and more!). Caving
There are plenty of options for Caving in Southern West Virginia. Two of the closest options are with Alpine Ministries (see above) or to head up to Lewisburg to the Lost World Caverns. Click here for more information on the Lost World Caverns.
